Special Weather Statement issued November 12 at 6:12PM EST by NWS Albany NY The combination of prolonged dry weather, north to northwest winds gusting between 10 to 20 mph, relative humidity values ranging between 25 and 35 percent, and dry fuels will contribute to an elevated risk of fire spread on Wednesday for portions of eastern New York, including the eastern Catskills, Capital District, Mid-Hudson Valley, and the Taconics. There is a statewide burn ban in effect through the rest of November. Use extra caution if handling any potential ignition sources, such as machinery or matches, and ensure to properly extinguish or dispose cigarette butts.
